The Necessity of Constructing Civil Air Defense Engineering in Residential Communities

Abstract

With the rapid development of the national economy and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, residential communities in cities have gradually become an important part of the national civil air defense engineering construction system against the backdrop of social development and evolving international situations. In peacetime, civil air defense projects in various residential communities serve functions such as commercial development and recreational activities for the public. However, when war breaks out, these projects can be quickly transformed into civil air defense facilities, providing solid protection for people's basic lives and property. Therefore, civil air defense engineering in residential communities has become a vital military-civilian facility integrating peacetime and wartime functions. Civil air defense engineering in modern communities is also a key component of China's national defense security construction system. This paper first analyzes the current status of the civil air defense engineering construction system in urban residential communities in China, then elaborates on the importance of constructing such projects in communities. Finally, based on China's current actual situation and in light of the prominent problems existing in the existing civil air defense projects, corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.
